Harewelle International Limited was established in 2006 as the parent company of the Harewelle Group, formed following the acquisition of ULG Northumbrian Limited by PMTC International. This brought together the skills of two of the UK’s most experienced and respected consultancy companies providing consulting services in the area of overseas development aid and supported by a network of overseas offices and associates. With experience dating back over 35 years and in nearly 90 countries the companies have earned first class reputations with government departments, NGOs, major funding agencies and, most importantly, the local communities in which they work. This has been based on a genuine commitment to sustainable development and poverty alleviation coupled with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.

For the past 35 years companies in the Harewelle group have worked across a range of technical sectors including Public Sector Reform, Natural Resource Management, Water and Sanitation, Sustainable Livelihoods, Training and Education, Civil Society and Health. All of Harewelle's work has central to it an emphasis on organisational and institutional strengthening - helping organisations build sustainable capacity based on their human resources. Clients include a range of donors including DFID, the EU and a range if multi-lateral donors. The company has a core staff of full time staff supplemented by a network of carefully selected, experienced associate consultants who have a proven track record of working within their fields of expertise.
Based in the UK, with regional subsidiary companies in Southern Africa (Zambia and Lesotho) and South Asia (Bangladesh), Harewelle has a wealth of experience working with local and international organisations throughout Africa and Asia. PMTC’s regional offices provide a range of services to international companies wishing to benefit from the cooperation of a local or regional partner. These services include in-country logistical and management support; recruitment of local consultants; local representation; and support in tender preparation and submission. Both PMTC Bangladesh and PMTC Zambia have a well established network of local and regional associate consultants covering a wide range of sectors and have an in-depth knowledge of the markets in which they operate.

Emphasis is placed on providing service of the highest quality and this is monitored by accredited auditors in accordance with the standards set by ISO 9001. The company also has UK Department of Trade and Industry accreditation under the Investor in People Award, which recognises commitment to ongoing staff development and training on a company-wide basis.
